Where to stay?

Snow Farm NZ is nestled high atop the Pisa Range, approximately 40 minutes drive from Wanaka and 1.5 hours drive from Queenstown. At the Base of our access road is the Cardrona Village, only 20 minutes drive and at the same location as the Snow Farm Cross Country Ski Area is the Snow Farm Lodge. The Snow Farm Lodge provides a variety of accommodations at the trailhead.

We operate two backcountry huts, these are for the more adventurous traveller as you will need your own sleeping bag and food to cook at the huts.

Backcountry Huts

For the enthusiastic traveller who has their own pack and sleeping equipment, Snow Farm NZ has two backcountry hut options, Meadow Hut and the Bob Lee Hut. Both huts feature gas cookers, firewood and a log burner, limited water, cutlery, plates, pots & pans, etc., and everything you need to have a great night out on the Pisa Range. Just bring your food and water/drinks and fun attitude and you will have a great time. Just in case you haven’t been to a backcountry hut – no mains electricity, no running water, long-drop outside toilet.

Staying on the Snow

The Snow Farm Lodge is a minute’s walk from the Snow Farm ski area and is nestled at the head of the Cross Country Ski Trails. The cozy rooms feature free Wi-Fi and shared bathrooms, as well as mountain views. Upgraded rooms add en-suite bathrooms, and TVs. Trail passes are not included in room fees and you must book directly with the Snow Farm Lodge.

The Cardrona Valley

The historic village of Cardrona is just 20-minutes from Wanaka. Situated on the famous Crown Range Road, the highest paved highway in the country. The Historic Cardrona Hotel offers accommodation and dining, and just up the road are the Benbrae Serviced apartments. Even if you don’t stay in Cardrona, its worth a visit as the Cardrona Hotel was established in 1863, and is one of New Zealand’s oldest hotels, and is one of only two remaining buildings from the Cardrona Valley gold rush era.

Only 4o minutes drive from the Snow Farm, Wanaka is where the majority of our guests stay., With over 40 restaurants and bars and plenty of accommodation options. Visitors from around the world are drawn to the Wanaka region by its outstanding natural beauty.

Only 1.5 hours drive from the Snow Farm or Wanaka, known as the Adventure capital of the world, Queenstown is a bustling tourist town and where we recommend anyone coming to the Snow Farm flys directly into its International Airport. Aside from the close proximity to Snow Farm, the scenery as you fly in is literally breathtaking. The Airport provides for most major rental cars and if you want to stay in Queenstown there are plenty of accommodation options for any budget.
